The Neighbourhood Plan enables the people of Ashdon to take ownership of the planning and development of Ashdon. For the first time local people can create a plan that allows then to develop planning policies that reflect the priorities of their area and has real legal weight.

There is a defibrillator located on the wall at the Village Hall which is maintained by the Parish Council. You can use a defibrillator without having received training. The equipment provides step by step verbal instructions on what you need to do and will "talk you through" the procedure.

The Essex County Council offers a free mobile library service in Ashdon every three weeks. The Mobile Library stops at Ashdon Baptist Church car park every third Thursday between 13:10 and 13:40.

The Neighbourhood Watch is separate from the Parish Council although it has the full support of the Parish Council and happens to be co-ordinated by Parish Councillors.
The Neighbourhood Watch newsletter “The Watch” is delivered to residents in Ashdon (courtesy of the Parish Council who pay for the delivery with the Walden Local newspaper).
Included with the newsletter will be an application form to join (for free) The Ashdon Neighbourhood Watch Group. All applications received will get a free neighbourhood watch sticker to go in your windows.

A mobile Post Office serves the residents of Ashdon every Tuesday morning between 09:30 and 10:30. This operates in the Baptist Hall Car Park. More details here on Post Office website.
Uttlesford District Council believes strongly in the recycling of household waste. Three bins are provided to cover most types.
The brown bin is for food waste, and is collected every week.
The green bin is for recyclables (plastics, paper, tin, glass etc), and is collected every second week.
The black bin is for non-recyclables and is collected every second week, alternating with the green bin.

If you have difficulty getting to your hospital, doctors, dentist, chiropody etc appointments we are a group of voluntary drivers willing to get you there. Voluntary contributions gratefully received. We would also welcome anyone who feels they could become a driver.
